If you ever had any doubt what it was that Karl Rove and company were looking for in a Republican candidate for Senate in Louisiana, Gerard Shields of the Advocate does a pretty good job here of summing it up.

“But the Bush administration didn’t recruit Kennedy because of his policies, they were just looking for a body to throw up against Landrieu.”
